Mr. Lo Chieh-Hung, Founder of Qingjing The Old England Manor

The Founder

Lo Chieh Hung

The Old England grew from the dream and design of its founder, Da-Lo. Yet through the long years of building and running the manor, his younger brother, Xiao-Lo, was never absent, lending support behind the scenes and watching over the day-to-day. The two brothers shouldered the work together, and with Da-Lo's wife beside him, the family has kept this dreamed-of manor standing to this day.

Chapter One of a Century-Old Hotel

Inspired by century-old European hotels, he set aside the logic of time, cost, and fast-paced living, believing that vanity is but a dream, and only romance endures for centuries.

Coming from a military background without formal architectural training, Mr. Lo relied on his unwavering persistence toward his ideal. From conceptual design, land preparation, tying rebar, carving, and woodwork, to traveling all the way to Europe to select furniture and decor, and personally planting trees for landscaping, he took a hands-on approach every step of the way.
